Brake kit specification options as follows : -
- B-M Kits
Brembo's B-M braking systems are designed and tested for those who want the best for their car.
They offer high-level performance both in normal road use as well as for the demanding days on the track, with a unique style given by Brembo's exclusive geometries and design.
Brembo's B-M kits consist of composite and one-piece ventilated discs that can be either drilled or slotted, aluminum monobloc calipers with 4, 6 and 8 pistons; a complete set of high performance pads; metal-braided hoses and high quality hardware.
It's a braking system that is characterized by a technology, performance and design level that is unparalleled on the market. Brembo's B-M kits are designed to combine the best technical solutions and therefore to properly respond to the peculiarities of each vehicle.
The aluminum monobloc calipers are the kit's heart. They are machined from an aluminum piece that has been cast in Brembo's foundry. This ensures exceptional stiffness and deformation.
I The discs that are provided in the kit have a unique ventilation system that improves the cooling capacity and increases by over 40% the resistance to the cracking that is caused by thermal shock. Additionally, the discs may be floating or one-piece, depending on the car model.
- GT KITS
Designed and tested specifically for track day enthusiasts and for drivers who demand the utmost performance from their cars, these kits offer superlative performance for both normal driving and demanding track day sessions.
Brembo kits consist of cross-drilled or slotted ventilated, one-piece or composite discs and aluminium calipers with 4, 6 or 8 pistons; a complete set of high performance pads; metal-braided hoses and high quality hardware.
The kit consists of aluminium calipers with opposed pistons which, depending on the car model and in increasing order of performance, may be composite, monoblock or even billet monoblock components, combined with cross-drilled or slotted one-piece or composite oversized discs.
Brembo kits combine the best solutions available to offer the perfect solution for the individual characteristics of each model.
The heart of the kit consists of aluminium calipers. These are also available as monoblock parts machined from a single billet of cast aluminium, which ensure outstanding rigidity and minimised deformation. The discs supplied in the kit, which may either be floating or one-piece, depending on the specific car model, feature an exclusive venting system that improves cooling capacity and increases resistance to cracking caused by thermal shock by over 40%.
Cross-drilled and slotted finishes are designed and executed with meticulous precision. These holes or slots in the braking surface help dissipate heat and eliminate brake dust and gases. A set of high-performance brake pads with specific friction materials for each application, TÜV/DOT homologated metal-braided hoses, an adapter and high-quality fastener hardware complete the kit.
- GT-R KITS
The GT-R braking systems are designed to meet the needs of aggressive braking whether on the road or the track.
GT-R is the most advanced expression of all Brembo's experience in braking system design. The GT-R Kit is comprised of single block billet aluminium calipers with 4 and 6 piston radial attachment, two piece floating discs, pads with different friction material and high performance hardware.
Single block calipers in billet aluminium with racing characteristics: lightweight, rigid and resistant to high temperatures.
The GT-R calipers are made from billet aluminium with radial 4 and 6 piston attachments. They reduce the non suspended weight, improving the dynamics and vehicle performance.
They are designed to provide a constant locking strength and the sensation of a stable and reliable pedal.
The pistons with stainless steel radiators allow a significant reduction of heat passage during extreme driving, reducing brake wear to a minimum.
In order to guarantee protection against corrosion and to provide high quality in the field, the GT-R calipers are nickel plated and have the Brembo logo CNC machined in red embossing.
Two piece floating discs to reduce the suspended weight and dissipate heat quickly.
GT-R braking systems include two piece floating discs which reduce the suspended weight and dissipate heat quickly.
The floating disc's anti-noise hardware is the direct result of Brembo's experience with brakes designed for Formula 1 competition.
The discs are available in sizes of 345 mm and 405 mm, 28 in diameter and 34 mm thick.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Why use a two-piece "floating" disc assembly?
There are several reasons that a two-piece floating disc assembly is of benefit. First, by using an aluminum bell for the hub section of the disc saves a great deal of weight. Since this is both rotating and unsprung, it benefits the acceleration, braking, and handling of the vehicle. Secondly, it is better able to handle the large temperature changes that a brake disc experiences. During severe use, temperature variances become present in a one-piece disc and generally cause warping of the disc. This not only results in vibration of the vehicle, and pulsing of the brake pedal, but also pushes the pistons farther away from the disc. In a two-piece floating disc assembly, the iron disc heats up more uniformly, and the controlled float which is present allows for the differential expansion of the very hot brake disc, and the relatively cool aluminum bell. This allows the disc to be used under severe conditions without having a detrimental effect.
Is the biggest brake disc the best answer for my vehicle?
Not necessarily. There are many factors to take into account when choosing a performance brake system. First and foremost, a brake system must be designed based on the vehicle parameters, and the type of use it will experience. Brake systems are designed to operate best within a prescribed temperature range. While modern high performance friction materials broaden this temperature range from relatively cold pad temperatures to the high temperatures experienced in performance driving situations, the use of a disc that is too large will limit disc temperatures to the extreme lower end of this range. Not only will the disc temperature not reach the optimum range, but it will also be heavier than necessary. Below you will find an explanation of how reducing the weight of the braking system further enhances performance.
What are the advantages of drilled and slotted discs?
Drilling or slotting discs aids the disc in several ways: The edges of the slots or holes continuously clean and refresh the pad surface as well as providing increased brake "bite". Additionally, they prevent gasses from collecting between the pad and disc interface. The disc is lightened, thereby decreasing its rotational inertia. Improved ventilation increases the disc's ability to shed heat, resulting in cooler operating temperatures.
Are discs with cast-in-place holes better than cross-drilled discs?
Brembo has extensively studied and tested cross-drilling versus casting the holes in place and found no significant effect on performance or durability.
Why are there so many holes in a cross-drilled disc?
The number of holes in a cross-drilled disc is part of the engineered system. Brembo has done extensive testing with regards to the number of holes, their size, their location and their chamfering. This attention to detail is what truly sets Brembo apart in the world of braking. The same attention to detail that is delivered to the Ferrari Formula One effort is a component of the high performance program. The number of holes in a disc is in part a function of the size of the disc and the internal venting (if it is a vented disc).
Should big brakes be installed on the front wheels or all four?
During braking, the front of the vehicle does the majority of the work. Exactly how much is influenced by the vehicle's weight distribution, wheelbase, and center of gravity height. Brembo engineers all of its systems to ensure that the brake balance of the vehicle is not compromised. If not designed properly, adding a big brake system to the rear of the vehicle can result in an unstable condition, and actually degrades braking performance. Brembo offers rear brake systems for a select number of high performance applications.
How does reducing weight of the braking system benefit the vehicle?
The mass of any vehicle requires energy to accelerate or decelerate. Reducing the vehicle mass improves acceleration, and requires less energy to be dissipated during deceleration. Rotating mass requires additional energy in order to increase or decrease its speed of rotation. Therefore, decreasing the mass of the caliper is valuable due to its contribution to total vehicle mass, and decreasing the mass of the disc has an even greater benefit due to the fact that it must rotate as well. Additionally, the mass of the brake system is also unsprung mass. Reducing the unsprung mass has the additional benefit of improved suspension performance, resulting in enhanced ride and handling.
