ROGUE ENGINEERING E36/E46 ADJUSTABLE REAR CONTROL ARMS McLAREN STYLE

Inspiration
As huge fans of the iconic McLaren F1, Rogue Engineering have always been enamoured at it's engineering marvel and beauty. As a tribute to the car, they have produced this special set of adjustable rear control arms (ARCA), inspired by the gold brace in the engine compartment. Anodized in the similar gold hue, their rear control arm is designed to be reminiscent of the engine brace when viewed from behind. The design allows for the intricately machined CNC'd pockets to always face forward and backwards at all times.

What does a ARCA do?
An Adjustable Rear Control Arm (ARCA) determines the rear wheels' camber settings. This is important on vehicles that are lowered or frequent the track. Whereas the factory arms are adjustable, they have limited range because of the eccentric cam bolt design. While lightweight in design, the design of the factory arms cannot withstand the continual pounding of track and street driving forever.

What about the factory arms?
Another undesirable (and overlooked) issue is with the factory control arm's inner mounting bushing itself. If a factory arm were to be replaced (because of damage or otherwise), it is important that the bushings are equally pre-loaded. Because Rogue Engineering's ARCAs arms do not use this style of rubber bushing, there is no chance of unequal bushing pre-load. This means that the suspension is allowed to move equally, freely, quietly, without any binding.

By design, the factory "cam" hardware to allow for camber adjustment has limited range of motion, allowing for only 1.0º. This is to allow the left and right side camber to be equal, more than to allow for additional adjustment for a performance benefit. With the Rogue Engineering ARCA greater range of adjustment, that extra bit of handling is available.

Rogue Engineering Design Details
Rogue Engineering have modified their ARCAs over the years to continually improve the performance and function. Our latest changes allow for a simpler, stronger part at the same time, allowing for easier adjustments when required. However, when considering the design details of their arm, Rogue Engineering specifically identified a few issues with other available arms:
- Adjustment points must be easily accessible. When companies design their arm with simplicity at stake, they tend to put the adjustment points on the ends of the arm. While the one near the clevis is easily accessible, an adjustment point near the subframe is not. Typically, the adjustment nut is so far into the subframe you cannot clearly access it to tighten or loosen it adequately.
- Having replaceable parts is a must. Not all parts will last forever, and when they require replacement, easily sourced parts is key. This is the reason Rogue Engineering use a rod end that is 5/8"-18 (LH) on their ARCA. In case it requires replacement, one can be sourced quickly around the country (outside the US may take longer).
- Mild steel parts do not hold up well in areas where roads are salted during the winters. This wrecks havoc on steel parts. Using parts such as aluminum and stainless steel help against these corrosive elements. When appropriate, Rogue Engineering balance the use of anodized aluminum and stainless steel in the design and construction of our parts. It's more costly, but we want our parts to last.

Kit includes two (2) complete arm assemblies.
Professional installation is recommended as an alignment is necessary to dial in the exact amount of negative camber.

TURNER MOTORSPORT REAR ADJUSTABLE DROP LINK.

These are the only such Rear Adjustable Drop Links that work on the "rod" type fixing on anti roll bars on the E36 M3 / E46 M3.

These adjustable rear links are only required when using sway bar / swaybars with a suspension with a very low ride height, where it may be necessary to adjust the length of the end links for proper sway bar clearance from the drive axles or other suspension components. These suspensions are usually found only on race cars but this may also apply to street cars with sport springs/sport coil overs that are lowered a lot. On most street cars lowered 1.5" or less, the stock links will be fine.

These end links feature a Heim joint, which allows enough lateral movement when disconnected to adjust the length of the link without removing the entire link from the car. This is particularly helpful when eliminating or adjusting preload while tuning the suspension. Similar links without this joint, can't be adjusted without totally removing the link from the car.

Built-in grease fittings allow for occasional lube, and a packet of grease is included. These links are sold as a set, and include two end links and hardware for H&R and TMS arbs (other brands may not need the hardware).
Note: these links will not work with factory or non-adjustable Eibach arbs, however most Eibach ARBs are adjustable. Please check with us first.

At their shortest setting they are 2.875" hole to hole and on their longest setting they are 3.5" hole to hole.

Why use adjustable rear control arms?

With a lowered car (either for street or track use), the non-adjustable original arms cause unwanted negative camber - the tops of the rear tires angle in too much, causing uneven tire wear and unwanted effects on handling. The adjustable rear control arm corrects this problem and can be tuned for any lowering, whether a street car ro a full-on race car through a +1.0° to -3.0° range.

With so many alternate choices, why UUC?

Our custom-made proprietary design resolves many of the issues with other brands:

- Aluminum center rods are known to bend and fail under extreme use or after extended use (build-up of strain/weakening). Failure of a suspension part that keeps the wheel in place can be quite dangerous. UUC's chromoly center rods are the strongest in the world, virtually unbreakable in this application.

- The wrench-fixing point of UUC's chromoly arm will not "round off" like the fixing point of aluminum arms.

- UUC's original-style bushing is silent, and does not have the squeaks and rattles associated with the use of heim joints or spherical bearings.

- The combination of aluminum ends and chromoly steel center bar results in a reasonable weight, a balanced combination of mass and strength.

- UUC's stress-relieved aluminum cleavis end is not only very strong, but is also much more precise in fitment than stamped-steel alternatives.

Probably the most overlooked suspension component in the performance world is the sway bar / anti roll bar end-link.
This simple component attaches the sway bar to each end of the suspension so the sway bar can do its job; promoting flat cornering of the vehicle in a turn.
This simple component can drastically hurt your car's performance if not optimized, especially in a BMW where high sway bar rates [and therefore high stresses] are common.

A sway bar with fixed length links can induce a load into any two cross-corners of your vehicle. The ability to neutralize the sway bar in your suspension system is a great advantage to baseline, balance, and refines your vehicle's handling characteristics. These links have achieved this by creating adapters that integrate current sway bar link technology to the traditional sway bar architecture. A worth while upgrade for any modified BMW.

Common issues with incorrect type or set up of drop links :

-Have you ever had a sway bar link bend..?
-Do you know if you are having suspension bind due to insufficient sway bar end link articulation (or simply poor design, bad bushing, etc)..?
-Have you ever had a sway-bar link fail at the welded joint between the ball and the link..?
-Do you want to properly corner weight your car..?

All these common issues that your vehicle may have had are addressed with this set.

These sway bar end links are the best solution, and unlike many others on the market these INCLUDE WEATHERPROOF "BOOTS" to help prevent the early demise of "open" type of drop link joints through corrosion / clogging .

Eliminate sway bar pre-load that adversely affects handling, strengthen your suspension, and truly optimize your setup with this strong Adjustable Sway Bar Link Set!... With no penalty, these links are quiet, just like OE links.

Put Simply: no matter at what ride height, stock or otherwise, OEM sway bar links are a weak link (literally) and add preload to your suspension. These adjustable links are superior to all other designs and unlike the upgraded units that may have come in your aftermarket sway bar kit, these have no polyurethane to squeak, tear, or blow out on the track.
These links feature a THK ball socket that is pre-lubricated, and sealed for durability and prolonged life. THK is an OE manufacturer for Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Ford, GM, Toyota and even BMW.

Ford In developing the new OEM suspension for their 2010 GT500, found these links made such a difference the factory test drivers believed the prototype sway bars had been re designed and they became OE equipment of this model. Thats an improvement!
