High flow / high performance air filters that simply replace the factory original versions within the factory airbox.

PERFORMANCE
BMC air filters are designed and produced to ensure a higher air flow than original paper filters. In F1, for example, BMC cotton filters minimize the loss of air flow pressure passing through the air filter; this way ensures the best conditions for full exploitation of maximum power. Therefore the benefits of replacing the original paper filter with BMC cotton air filter, produced using the same technology and materials as the F1 air filters, are evident.

DESIGN AND MATERIALS
Qualified engineers using advanced software and expert technicians using the latest technologies produce BMC air filters. An F1 filter must be very light, must be made of the best raw materials and must improve performance. For this reason we use only alloy mesh with epoxy coating to ensure protection from petrol fumes and from oxidization due to the humidity of the air. The filtering material is composed of a special cotton gauze soaked with low-viscosity oil to give you the best air permeability.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
BMC technical staff has developed a particular production system based on soft rubber moulding which produces the familiar BMC red filters. They are made in one single piece with no welded joints in the corners, thus avoiding breaking risks. This system, called "Full Moulding" comes from R&D in F1 and it is significant of BMC air filters' technical and quality specifics.

Introduction
After 8 months of development and testing we are proud to now officially launch the Evolve Venturi Intake System.

Development started from a desire to complete our tuning package which already consisted of our well known Evolve ECU Remap, Evolve Tubular Headers and Evolve Exhaust.

We wanted to design a system which gave a positive impact for the whole driving experience. By taking advantage of aerodynamic principles and using computational fluid dynamics to optimise the airflow, we have engineered an intake system which delivers on all fronts - sharpened throttle response, more torque, improving driveability and of course, increased power.

More power was required but not just at the peak rpm region which is used maybe 5% of the time. Too often we have tried and tested intake kits which seldom increase power and even if they do, it is at the detriment of the low to mid-range torque and throttle response.

Initial Impressions
Irrespective of our individual thoughts and testing, the most important aspect is how our customers feel after installing the intake kit and how their driving experience has changed.

The above quotes mirror our initial impressions which still remain after covering thousands of miles in our E60 M5 which gave us a great sense of satisfaction.


Engine Power
There were two main considerations to balance when designing the Evolve VAi kit:

Aerodynamic Efficiency
For aerodynamic advantages an open system was adopted but not in the "normal" aftermarket method. To ensure a less restrictive design alongside maintaining high air-speeds the Venturi Effect was implemented. This can be clearly seen from the shape of the carbon fibre housing and the location and shape of the air filter. The entire carbon fibre housing is a Venturi where the airflow increases in velocity as the cross sectional area reduces from the mouth (filter opening) to the outlet into the MAF tube. By inverting the cone and placing it on the mouth of the intake, the carbon fibre housing dictates the shape of the airflow. As this is essentially a large funnel - the airflow remains laminar and therefore minimises the drag of the system therefore reducing load on the engine.

Inlet Air Temperature
The OEM intake assembly, being a sealed system is very efficient at keeping IATs close to ambient when the engine is under load � wide open throttle driving conditions.
However, data logging clearly shows that under idle and slow speed driving conditions IATs will always be high for a sealed or open system. This is due to heat soaking of the intake assembly from engine heat as well as the recirculation of hot air from the breather system.
To ensure the Evolve VAi open system came as close as possible to the OEM system, two pairs of air scoops and one pair of radiator deflector shields were engineered.
On road data logging clearly shows IAT's to be very close to ambient temperatures especially under full load and while the vehicle is in motion.

Conclusion of IAT and Air Flow

Increased Engine Performance
This is clearly apparent through the increase in power under both partial and full load engine conditions especially low-mid (1000-5000) RPM driving where the S85 suffers from inconsistent and weak power delivery
Dyno testing, where airflow is equivalent to road conditions confirms the above with increases of 10-15 horsepower (see figure 1.1)


Improved Drivability
A result of the Venturi effect is the improvement in air speed especially under transient throttle openings. The direct effect is improved throttle response which makes the engine feel more alive.


Enhanced Overall Driving Experience
The enhancement in driving experience comes not just from the improved throttle response and power but also from the by product of such a design � SOUND.
The carbon fibre housing coupled with the open design gives rise to a resonating and deep induction roar similar to that of a racing V10 engine. However, unlike a simple open cone filter, the Evolve VAi�s produce a refined pulsing symphony under varying engine speeds and engine loads both inside and especially outside the car.

Dyno Testing Results
Dyno testing was carried out on our in house Dyno Dynamics DS450 Dynamometer. For the purpose of accurate testing all tests were matched based on:

- Inlet Air Temperatures through in built IAT sensor in MAF via OBDII
- Ignition Timing Matched (Ignition timing can vastly change from one run to the next)
- Engine Temperature (Coolant and Oil)
- Exhaust Gas Temperature
- Two consistent runs recorded for each of the below tests

Testing Proceedure:
- Test 1 : Stock car, stock tune, stock intake system and euro filters (equivalent to charcoal delete)
- Test 2 : As above plus Evolve Upper Intake Scoops
- Test 3 : Stock car, stock tune, Full Evolve Engineering VAi Kit

Dyno Testing Conclusion
Full throttle dyno testing shows that power and torque upto 6000rpm is increased consistently through the rpm range by approximately 5-7hp
Between 6000-8250 rpm the power increase is larger at a consistent 10-14hp

These results are mirrored by the on-road driving experience.

Description
The BMW E60 M5 CSL has always captivated the hearts of S85 owners with the showcase being the single piece carbon plenum with larger side inlets running AlphaN software.
It was never available as a part to purchase.

We did not want to make just make another carbon plenum which replaces the OEM for noise alone.
Like the rest of our range we wanted to give the market something very special for what is essentially one of the last of the truly great naturally aspirated engines.

Infinity Design therefore went out of it's way to give the enthusiast S85 owners something very special.

The 100% pre preg carbon fibre plenum was designed in CAD software using accurate 3D scans of the engine bay without the OEM plenum in place, 3D scans of both of the individual OEM plenums and then combined together to make a singular larger volume system.

The induction sound is beyond what has been achieved by the market.
Mutiple reports of the intial pre production batch have shown more usable torque and improved 60-130mph times as well as improved power on dyno testing.

Under bonnet looks are sensational.

At the core of the design is the modularity. This is key both to the functionality, how the system is fitted, the multiple upgrade paths and also a lower price. No other product throughout the BMW aftermarket exists which is this complex and at the same time gives so many options and advantages.

There are 4 main components:
-Main Plenum
-Throttle body bosses
-Velocity stacks
-Side inlets
-Lid

Fitment
The fundamental problem with one piece plenums is that they are very difficult to fit as the throttle bodies are at a 120 degrees angle to one another unlike the S65 engine where they are at a 180 degree angle and the plenum fits directly downwards on top of them. A solid one-piece plenum causes major issues when attempting to fit with the rubber boots not seating correctly onto the adaptors on the plenum which lead to major air leaks. The system also requires considerable force to seat correctly.
The Infinity Design plenum allows the throttle body bosses to first be attached to the rubber boots, the main plenum is placed onto the adapters, the velocity stacks are then attached, side inlets installed and lid installed leading to a leak free and simple process.

By keeping the main frame, throttle body bosses, velocity stacks, side inlets and lid separate a logical and simple process can be taken to fit the system giving no risk of overlapping of the throttle body boots which leads to air leaks and having to force the plenum into position

Upgradability
By allowing all of the parts to be separate it allows the end user to change the velocity stacks to shorter types to give a higher rpm biased power delivery.
The side inlets can be changed from the OEM style to the CSL Style which give a significantly larger opening leading to a large volume high flow intake system.

Resistence to Failure
It has been long known that carbon plenums suffer from internal failures. The most common issue is the velocity stacks break away as they are often glued. Over time the adhesive weakens with heat cycles and vibrations. Not only is the entire plenum wasted but can cause major catastrophic engine damage as the broken carbon shards entire into the combustion chamber.
The Infinity Design system has one piece velocity stacks which are bolted through the plenum into the throttle body bosses. There is no chance of failure.

Lower Cost
Since all of the parts of the plenum are individually manufactured and supplied there is no expense of assembly which poses a significant cost in carbon parts. Jigs are required for exact placement of parts with adhesive, drying times and cleaning required which all add time to the manufacturing process leading to a higher overall price.
Given how complex our system is, the cost is very reasonable.

The velocity stacks were lightly redesigned with a larger and longer opening with them all facing the significantly larger side openings rather than away from the path of the air.

This listing is for the RPI scoops and block off plates on their own, for E6X M6, no filters included. Adds up to 15 bhp.

THIS KIT INCLUDES THE AIR BLOCK OFF PLATES, NOT NORMALLY INCLUDED

Your E60 M5's main source of air is a 3.25" opening behind the front centre grill. The problem is that the openings are sideways. Head on airflow will find its way to the radiator and oil cooler while the engine tries to pull in its share of air that is passing by. Our ram air scoops capture and channels air directly into the factory intake ducting. This encourages pressurisation of the intake boxes with cool and dense air. RPI's complete system has a proven advantage in that the source of air is completely from the outside. Induction type systems suffer from extreme under hood temperatures which results in a loss of power.

Crest also includes in the price of this kit the RPI Air block off plates (normally only sold separately) which when used in conjunction with this ram kit partially block off the bottom secondary hole of the intake box. This allows for quicker pressurisation of the intake system. Dyno tests have shown an extra 4-6whp gain in the mid range when using these plates.
